November Newsletter 2024
Dear Center Families,
Looking back at past November newsletters, I find I have consistently written about being thankful – which makes sense, since November is “National Gratitude Month”, and we celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday. Taking a moment and being grateful allows us to shift our focus from the negative to appreciating what is positive in our lives. In my experience, when I am grateful, my life seems to improve for the better; it always seems to turn what I already have into enough.
This year, I find myself particularly thoughtful and thankful as we approach Veterans Day. With my dad now living at the Veterans Home in Tilton, I am clearly reminded about the tens of millions of Americans who have served in the armed forces since our country’s founding. With each visit, I am humbled by the men and women I meet and grateful to each one who served honorably both in wartime and peacetime. Several have told me about their pledge to support and defend our constitution and how proud they were to contribute to our national security. They served and sacrificed for America’s freedoms.
So, on November 5, I hope you will note the freedom we have as American citizens and exercise your right to vote. On November 11, I encourage you, along with your child(ren), to thank a veteran for their service to our country. I recommend taking a moment to pause and see the hundreds of small flags at Brewster Academy that will be waving between November 6 and 16. Once again, the Winnipesaukee Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) will be installing a Field of Flags on DeWolf Field as a tribute to our veterans. I look forward to seeing the flags placed in honor of my dad, my husband, and father-in-law -- as well as our own team member, Bob Tuttle, and several Center children’s family members, too.
May you all have many reasons to be grateful and give thanks this month.
Respectfully yours,
Teri Ann
