December Newsletter 2024

Teri Ann Cox
Executive Director of The Children’s Center

Dear Families and Friends,

The month of December is always a magical one when children are involved. With each day that passes, the excitement will build here in our classrooms, especially for those who believe in Santa Claus!

Each preschool classroom, including Magic Moments, will be “field tripping” over to the Wright Museum on December 10, 11, or 12 to see this year’s display of the Festival of Trees. The 2024 exhibit is extra special as our “children’s tree” decorated with all our handmade ornaments, will be displayed front and center in the lobby given that we are one of the four non-profit beneficiaries chosen by the Festival of Trees committee to receive a grant. Recognized for our music enrichment program, we will be receiving $5,000 to help pay for Bobbie Bear’s time as our music teacher and for the planned installation of an akambira (a type of traditional African xylophone) in the toddler playground this spring. We are delighted to be a recipient and look forward to the young children enrolled having the opportunity to express their creativity through music and rhythm, both in and out of doors in 2025.

If you happen to get to the museum (FYI: Santa will be there on Saturday, December 14 and volunteer board members will be serving cookies and juice between 10am and 4pm), look for a second tree upstairs that we will have decorated in a “celebrating 50 years” theme. It’s been a great milestone year, and we are happy to remind members of the community one more time that the Center has been around since 1974.

However you celebrate the holiday season, I wish you and those you love, magic and kindness, as well as an extra measure of comfort and hope!

With kind regards,

Teri Ann
